Our Journey

Aakanksha is like an umbrella patronising services to special children by deploying bottom top approach with 360 degrees spectrum. Those were the days when we were ignorant about the prevalence of disability but after 25 years too what services render today is like a drop in the ocean, when we collate the figures of disability. The 2011 census recorded 2,68,10,557 as disabled population in India and 6,24,937 in our Chhattisgarh State.

Our Company

KISS began in 1993 as a small initiative with just 125 tribal students in Bhubaneswar, India. Founded by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the school aimed to provide free education, food, and shelter to underprivileged tribal children. Over the years, KISS has grown into the world’s largest fully residential tribal institute, serving over 30,000 students from marginalized communities.

Through holistic education, life skills training, and a strong focus on sports and cultural activities, KISS has transformed thousands of lives. Many of its alumni have gone on to become doctors, engineers, civil servants, and social leaders. The model has earned global recognition for breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering indigenous communities through education.
